Singapore (in English: Republic of Singapore) is commonly referred to as Singapore. It is an island country in Southeast Asia and a crucial transshipment port as well as an aviation center connecting Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. Located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula and at the entrance of the Strait of Malacca, it consists of Singapore Island and 63 surrounding small islands. Singapore Island covers approximately 88.5% of the country's total area. The island is about 50 kilometers long from east to west and 26 kilometers wide from north to south, with an area of 744.3 square kilometers (as of 2025).
Singapore is one of the Four Asian Tigers and ranks first in the world for urban infrastructure. In 2024, Singapore's gross domestic product was 731.436 billion Singapore dollars, achieving a 4.4% economic growth and an average per capita gross domestic product of 121,161 Singapore dollars.
